Instagram Desktop Experience Redesigned

I love Instagram. I use it every day.

Unlike the mobile app, the Instagram experience on the web does not highlight the features available to users that make Instagram fun and beautiful. I love to visit the Instagram web page to be able to view the content a larger screen. This experience is hindered by the fact that the current design doesn’t effectively use the space to feature the content shared on the platform. Instagram’s purpose is to share and interact with visual content and this is why I believe this content should be the focus of the design.

I redesigned the desktop version of Instagram to feature photos as a focus. I decided to use the extra space available on a desktop version to make the other ways a user can interact with the product more visible. This includes making stories and IGTV content highlighted and displayed in partnership with the more popular features such as posts on the explore page.
